A level trail connecting the Trailhead of SCHOODIC HEAD TRAIL & the Blueberry Hill picnic area near the trailheads of ANVIL TRAIL & EAST TRAIL, ALDER TRAIL is a great hike for people of all ages!!! LIKE or SUBSCRIBE - I'd like for you to do either, I'd LOVE for you to do both! Beginning on Ranger Cabin Road, a peek at the Ranger Cabin is available near the Tailhead. ALDER TRAIL starts nearby surrounded by wild blackberries & heads through of a grass path short shrubs into taller trees. In the forest the real turns to gravel, with occasional roots & rocks to lift one's feet over. As the trees become more sparse, the trail widens as the number of roots on the trail increases in beautiful patterns across the path. As the trees transition to shrubs, wild blueberries appear along the trail edge. Then the narrowing path moves toward the coast. as the trees fall away the border of tall brush yields to open sky at trail end. Across the street is the Blueberry Hill picnic area with wild roses and ocean views (yet minimal blueberries). Here, short cliff edges seem like they can fall away in a changing natural environment, as some of the best coastal views in Acadia are revealed. I hope my efforts make your watching experience AND your next visit to ACADIA NATIONAL PARK ... wicked awesome! FRIENDLY REMINDER: no matter the difficulty, hiking has risks... HAVE A PLAN... the best times are had when planned properly. Alternate, shorter routes than what you intend to hike are abundant in Acadia... your hiking plan can include them as contingencies.
