Join me for a morning walk through Hornstull, one of Södermalm’s lively waterfront neighborhoods in Stockholm. We start below ground on the platform at Hornstull metro station. On our way up, we stop for a closer look at “I minnet gjutet”, a remarkable sculpture created by Eva Ziggy Berglund in 2012. The column is covered with hundreds of casts of hands, mouths, noses, plants and everyday objects, many connected to people from the local neighborhood. Hornstull metro station also features older artwork by Berndt Helleberg, dating back to the station’s opening in 1964 and inspired by the prehistoric cave paintings of Altamira in Spain. Back above ground, we step into the morning traffic of Hornstull and pass the beautiful façade of Bio Rio. This classic neighborhood cinema opened in 1943 and was designed in the functionalist style by architect Albin Stark. Today, it remains one of Stockholm’s few surviving neighborhood cinemas from the 1940s. From there, we head down to Hornstulls strand and the waterfront, passing the new floating sauna before continuing towards Reimersholme. A calm morning walk through everyday Stockholm, from underground art and morning traffic to classic architecture, waterfront life and the quieter surroundings of Reimersholme. 📍 Hornstull – Hornstulls strand – Reimersholme, Stockholm 🚇 Stockholm Metro 🔇 No talking 🎧 Natural city sounds #Stockholm #Hornstull #WalkingTour
