Dedicated Children’s Agency (DeCA): Safe Water for Soko Mjinga, Emali (Makueni)

Residents of Soko Mjinga in Emali have long paid high prices to water vendors, especially in the dry season. The Dedicated Children’s Agency (DeCA) used SCEJU’s FSTP support to install a solar-powered reverse osmosis treatment plant and an automated kiosk with digital payments, drawing on an existing county borehole. The kiosk is managed by Savanna CBO and now reaches about 2,000 people. The project also trained and digitally registered about 100 women and youth vendors, and it reuses treatment wastewater in community tree nurseries.
