I think it is important to reconsider your relationship with your parents as you become an adult. Not only because the power dynamic has changed but because once you are a grown up, you have a better understanding and perspective on your parents in a way that is more objective than before. Children depend on their parents, their primary caregivers, for survival. So they need to be willfully blind to their parents' flaws. Children will try to make their parents like them, love them because that is how children survive because your parents care for you and they will always try to accommodate their parents best.
