In AD 9, three Roman legions marched into the forests of Germania and never came out. Their sacred golden eagles were taken, and Rome would spend 32 years hunting for them. This illustrated comic documentary follows the trap Arminius set for Varus, the old emperor's grief, Germanicus' grim march to the battlefield, and the 32-year hunt that finally brought all three eagles back to Rome. It ends with the 1987 metal-detector find at Kalkriese and what the battle still means today, with legends and debated claims marked as such.
