Day 20 - Yabberup to Noggerup August 23, 2025 Up relatively late, Mim and I slept until after sunrise and Rhea was already up getting breakfast when we woke. Big breakfast of muesli / granola, we over catered breakfast stuff a bit, no regrets. Hiked out around 8:30. An easy morning hike through fairly typical forest for the northern section. Passed several creeks as the morning went along. Got off trail at one point or thought we did because Far Out said so, but turned out the app was out of date and our nav skills were fine... which cost us some time and a steep climb to get back to the trail we were correctly on. Passed a couple of what seemed to be semi-permanent campsites around the lake before crossing the dam wall, after which we had a snack of a couple of bars. Saw a group of black cockatoos while climbing up and down ridges, and chatted to them for a while. Eventually the track took us on a road walk past the Mumby pub, we didn't stop in. The track went from there past farm land and along a disused railway track for some distance before heading along the verge of a dirt road through trees and scrub. We had lunch of PB and J / dates along there. After lunch a long walk up a hill on a dirt road, saw parrots, cockees, ducks and other birds as we passed farm lands... Also some steers and sheep. We encouraged them to run away, don't think they understood. At the top we re-entered national park land, through forest and over / past more creeks. Felt like we covered the remaining distance faster than I anticipated, and suddenly the hut was visible on the opposite ridge past a valley with a creek. We set up camp, Rhea arrived, entertaining conversation, signing of register etc. Mim checked the weather with the minimal internet available near the hut, looks like it's still predicted to be nasty tomorrow. We may take the day and hunker down until it passes, see how it's looking in the morning.
