Employee wellbeing initiatives are more effective when they are shaped with employees rather than imposed on them. This lesson explains employee voice and employee involvement, showing how listening can build trust, relevance, inclusion and engagement. It explores practical listening channels, including surveys, pulse checks, forums, focus groups, suggestion schemes and one-to-one conversations. You will also learn why collecting feedback is only the beginning: organisations need to close the loop by sharing what they heard, explaining the action being taken and communicating progress. The lesson then introduces co-creation, psychological safety and the importance of involving diverse employee groups with different needs and experiences. A workplace example contrasts a weak, HR-led response with a more collaborative approach involving focus groups, transparent findings, flexible support and peer networks. The key message is that employee voice is an ongoing cycle of listening, sharing, acting and updating, helping create a wellbeing strategy shaped by the people it is intended to serve.
