In this tutorial, we continue exploring the Grower node in the Procedural Vegetation Editor (PVE) for Unreal Engine 5.8, focusing on how a procedural tree reacts to its physical environment.
In this episode, you'll learn:
How Phototropism controls growth toward light.
How light and shade affect branch growth and survival.
How Gravity and foliage weight make branches bend and sag.
How branches can weaken, degrade, and eventually break.
How Senescence controls branch aging and death.
How foliage creates shade, adds weight, and affects the overall growth simulation.
Light, Gravity, and Foliage are closely connected inside the Grower. Leaves create the shade that affects Phototropism while also adding weight that influences Gravity.
