Two Nights Backpacking in Emigrant Wilderness - May 2026

We spent three days (two nights) backpacking in Emigrant wilderness. We started from Crabtree trailhead and camped at Gem Lake on the first night, then Bear lake on the second night. We got lucky with pleasant weather and minimal mosquitos. The quickly melting snow created streams everywhere and filled the rivers, making river crossings frequent and sometimes difficult.
