#VictorianChristmas #ChristmasCarols #ChristmasTree Bringing Home the Christmas Tree by Sleigh, 1884 — peaceful Victorian Christmas carols and classical music for a snowy day of choosing a fir in the pine woods and bringing it home by horse-drawn sleigh to an English country manor. Two and a half hours of chamber carols on parlour piano, strings, harp, flute and clarinet. 📜 A CHRISTMAS IN HOLLYHURST · CHAPTER 5 On the second Saturday of December the coachman harnesses two grey horses to the red sleigh at Hollyhurst Hall. A woman in a burgundy wool cloak and a gentleman in a dark green greatcoat climb in under a plaid rug, and the sleigh glides across the white fields into the pine woods above the village. The gentleman points his cane at a well-shaped fir, the gardener's saw sings, and the tree tips softly into the snow. Tied to the sleigh, it rides home over the old stone bridge while children run behind and villagers wave from their doorways. At the manor the fir is carried into the great hall and stood beside the oak staircase, still green and undecorated, a box of little candles and ribbons waiting beside it. Tea and gingerbread by the fire, horses blanketed in the stable, and candles in every window as the snow begins to fall. 🎻 CAROLS IN THIS CHAPTER O Christmas Tree · Deck the Halls · The Holly and the Ivy · I Saw Three Ships · Here We Come A-Wassailing 🕯️ THE CHAPTER, PAGE BY PAGE 00:00 Morning Snow at Hollyhurst Hall 15:00 Two Grey Horses and the Red Sleigh 30:00 Across the White Fields 45:00 Into the Pine Woods 1:00:00 Choosing the Christmas Tree 1:15:00 Tied to the Sleigh for the Ride Home 1:30:00 Over the Old Stone Bridge 1:45:00 Through the Manor Gates 2:00:00 A Green Tree in the Great Hall 2:15:00 Tea by the Fire, Candles in the Windows ⬅️ Chapter 4 · A Christmas Market in an English Village, 1884:    • Market Day at Christmas in an English Vill...   ➡️ Next chapter: far in the north, the children's letters from Hollyhurst reach a snowy toy workshop where Santa is busy at work. 🔔 A new chapter every week:    / @hollyhurstcarols   ✍️ From the curator: "Bringing the tree home is my favourite day of the season — cold hands, the smell of pine, and tea waiting by the fire." 💬 Would you choose the tallest tree in the wood, the fullest one, or the little one nobody else wanted?
