If your basmati rice comes out sticky, mushy, broken, bland, or unevenly cooked, a few small changes can make a huge difference.
Today I’m sharing 10 simple Indian tricks for perfect basmati rice, long, fluffy, separate grains with plenty of flavor, all made on the stovetop.
TROUBLESHOOTING
Sticky rice? Rinse more and avoid stirring during cooking.
Mushy rice? Reduce the water or cooking time.
Broken grains? Handle soaked basmati more gently.
Hard rice? It may need slightly more water or cooking time.
Bland rice? Check the salt and make sure the whole spices became fragrant in the ghee.
Finish with fresh coriander and a tiny squeeze of lemon if you like.
This rice is perfect with rajma, dal, chana masala, butter chicken, chicken curry, paneer, vegetables, or kebabs.
If you try these tips, tell me in the comments how your basmati turned out.
