UEFA opens the chat with one line: one of you is getting deleted today. Six trophies defend themselves. The Champions League says it is the biggest thing in football. The Europa League says Tottenham won it and went to the Champions League after finishing seventeenth. The Club World Cup says it paid a billion dollars. The Ballon d'Or says it is the only one anybody remembers by name. The Conference League just keeps asking if it is safe, and keeps getting told later. Then the World Cup asks UEFA one question — who owns me — and the whole audit falls apart. And yes: UEFA runs the Champions League. FIFA runs the World Cup.
