A half barrier level crossing found in a very remote location in Suffolk near the border with Cambridgeshire, filmed during early sunset on a cold early November late afternoon. This level crossing is past a farm that is deep within the countryside, and beyond the level crossing away from this farm, nothing but flat fields and rows of trees can be seen for as far as the eye can see. This is a very remote no-through road, seeing one vehicle roughly every 15-20 minutes and infrequent use by pedestrians. Two loud alarms accompany smiths industries half barriers and LED wigwags at this level crossing, and as can be heard, one of these alarms is rather faulty. Trains can be seen approaching from the direction of Shippea Hill before the level crossing activates, but cannot be seen approaching from the other direction until it activates.
Various passenger trains can be seen passing this level crossing in this video. I apologise about the wind noise during the first video due to a brief spell of gusty winds which had finished just after this first train had passed - not helped by the very open and exposed location of the level crossing. A bonus clip is included between the first and second full videos of an unexpected class 156 heading towards Norwich, which didn't show on Shippea Hill's timetable and unfortunately I didn't catch the actual lowering of the barriers for this.
Skip to 2:21 for the lowering where I show the faulty alarm up close, if you wish to do so.
Thanks for watching!
