In a major relief for prepaid mobile consumers, TRAI has notified the Telecom Consumer Protection (Thirteenth Amendment) Regulations, 2026. Telecom operators like Jio, Airtel, and Vi are now mandated to offer 30-day validity plans and same-date monthly renewable recharges, eliminating the need to make 13 recharges a year for a 12-month period. Additionally, operators must introduce dedicated voice-and-SMS-only plans without bundled data, benefiting budget-conscious users and senior citizens.
