Bob Tasca III BIG Decision Could Change Austin Prock’s NHRA Future | NHRA Update 2026 Bob Tasca III spent 18 years building his nitro Funny Car team, then gave away his own seat to the reigning champion of a rival camp. In this video, we break down exactly why Tasca stepped out of the cockpit for 2026, how Austin Prock and his family moved from John Force Racing to Tasca Racing, and what this massive gamble means for Ford, for Prock, and for the future of the NHRA Funny Car class. The story starts with a promise Tasca made to Ford: if they returned to NHRA drag racing, he would deliver a Funny Car championship. After a tenth-place finish that snapped a six-year top-five streak, he made the boldest call of his career. He hired Prock, along with crew chiefs Jimmy and Thomas Prock, and said there was nobody else he would get out of the seat for. Now Prock has won the Midwest Nationals in St. Louis, beating John Force Racing’s Jordan Vandergriff in the final with a 3.909 at 332.84 mph and a .045 reaction time. It was his second win of 2026 and the 23rd of his career, and it moved him to third in the points with three races left in the Countdown. So did Tasca just keep his promise to Ford by disappearing from the driver’s seat? And what happens in 2027 when the only two Funny Car drivers to break 340 mph share one team?
