I used to serve passengers at 30,000 feet as a flight attendant. These days, I sometimes come home and treat myself like my own business-class guest.
I cook a simple meal, plate it nicely, sit down and actually enjoy it. Later, I might turn on a reading light, pick up a book, watch Netflix, or get some unexpected company from my two cats.
But life in Penghu wasn’t always this way. During my first six months here, I often worked late, brought piles of schoolwork home, grabbed fried food on the way, and kept working in front of Netflix until late at night.
Over time, I realized that “upgrading” my life wasn’t really about having a beautiful home or buying an expensive business-class ticket. It was about changing the way I treated myself.
Perhaps one of the best things about business class isn’t the bigger seat or better food. It’s the feeling that someone is genuinely taking care of you.
And when you get home, that person can be you.
