Johann Gottfried Walther, a cousin of J.S. Bach, was organist at Ss. Peter and Paul Church in Weimar for many years. Over that period of time, Walther composed many organ works, most notably chorale preludes or partitas (sets of variations). Allein Gott in der Hoh sei Ehr (Glory Be To God On High) is said to date from 1531, and is one of the earliest hymns of the Lutheran Church. In this chorale prelude by Walther, I use a light registration of 8' Doppel Flote, 2' 15th on the Great Manual on the Fabry Organ at Immanuel Presbyterian Church, Milwaukee.
