39 France: Seurre Rest Stop on the Saône in the Spring

39 France: Seurre Rest Stop - Saône River Cruising in the Spring, April 14-15, 2026 (9:24 minutes) - It’s a sunny, but cold day on the river, so we bundle-up to enjoy the views from Chalon-sur-Saône to Seurre. On this day, we share the river with several pleasure crafts and working barges (the latter can create some uncomfortable waves); and with more of the famous white cows of France, the Charolais cattle breed, from the Saône-et-Loire region in Burgundy. We navigate through our fourth lock on the Saône, Écluse d’Ecuelles, and as we enter the picturesque town of Seurre, we are welcomed by flying and nesting storks. We never get tired of seeing the storks! In the evening, we enjoy a stroll through Seurre and a beautiful sunset along the town quay. The next morning, we depart for Saint-Jean-de-Losne where we will begin our journey up the Canal de Bourgogne. Thanks for watching!
