Building an Underground Log Cabin from Start to Finish | Solo Bushcraft

rom an empty patch of forest to a finished underground log cabin — this video shows the entire build from start to finish. I begin by choosing a place for the shelter, marking out the future cabin and digging the entire pit by hand. Then I collect logs from the forest and build the underground walls using a simple log construction. Over the following days, I build the wooden floor, roof structure and entrance, reinforce the walls with wooden pegs, and split logs by hand to make boards for the door and other parts of the cabin. The roof is covered with poles, moss, birch bark, soil and a final layer of green moss to help protect the shelter from rain and blend it into the surrounding forest. Inside, I build a raised bed, install a wood stove, make a wooden door, table and ladder, and gradually turn the unfinished shelter into a warm and comfortable forest cabin. During the build, the weather changes constantly — strong winds, heavy rain and cold nights. Wild boars visit the area several times, both while I’m working and during the night. Between the work, I cook over Finnish log candles and the wood stove, gather wild morel and chanterelle mushrooms, prepare bracken fern, and spend several nights at the shelter as it slowly takes shape. By the end of the project, the construction area is cleaned up and the underground log cabin is finally complete. No talking — just bushcraft, traditional woodworking, outdoor cooking, wildlife, rain and the natural sounds of the forest.
