Bushcraft basecamp trip - rain, canvas lavvu, making sawhorse, roasting chicken, sharpening etc

I am sleeping in a homemade lavvu, a lot of rain and some strong winds, making sawhorse and tongs, roasting chicken over campfire etc Open the full video description for more information. ---------------------------- Date: September 2026 Day: 18°C (64.4°F) Night: 15°C (59°F) Hours of daylight = 14 hours Location: My proterty in northwest Denmark. Lakes, sea, spruce/pine and hardwood forrest. Some of the most remote in Denmark, but limited how remote it can get. A lot of birds and deer etc. No bears, only a few wolves. _________________ Consuming: Water Roast (chicken with salt) Soup (chicken, potatoes, onions, chanterelles, garlic, salt, chili) _________________ A few questions: 1. Are the lavvu good enough shelter in heavy rain? Yes. Some rain will get in from the top smoke opening, but in general no problem just to keep the top opening open despite heavy rain and just let the heat from the fire keeping the shelter dry. The canvas fabric are treated with 50/50 linseed oil and turpentine - oil cloth. 4.What did you use to sharpen/maintain the tools? Sharpening stone, leather with stropping compound and linseed oil. 5. What type of axes are you use? Homemade.Karelian axe and classic russian axe. C45 steel and ash handle. The Karelian axe are 900 grams (including the handle), 8cm cutting edge and 60cm handle. No. 8. What is you're kuksa/drinking cop made from? Birch burl. Homemade. 9. What is you're bowl made from? Birch. Homemade. 10. Why do you sometimes hit with the side of the axe instead of the poll? Keeps the cutting edge away from you're face and the larger surface area makes you less likely to miss.
