Cannes is the most famous city on the French Riviera, famed for its International Film Festival, when it is besieged by stars, journalists, photographers, and onlookers, who clog the promenades, hotels, and bars in search of fame. Originally a fishing village on the Ligurian coast, it evolved from a maritime port into a renowned tourist destination on the French Riviera in the 19th century, thanks to the English aristocracy and the mild climate. We begin our tour in the old medieval quarter of Cannes, which climbs the hill, Mont Chevalier, the highest point in the district. A 22-meter-high medieval tower with a view of the entire city and an ancient castle awaits you. After visiting the Church of Notre-Dame d'Espérance de Cannes, we head down towards the sea, crossing Le Square Mont Chevalier and, further down, the station square. Passing in front of the Hôtel de Ville - Mairie de Cannes, we dive into the city center among its glittering shop windows. Climbing up Rue Saint Antoine, we retrace the ancient streets between the houses surrounding the mountain and the castle, Rue du Pré, Rue Louis Perrissol to reach the Musée des Explorations du Monde, housed in the Château de la Castre. We head down to the sea and from the Cristobal Gabarrón Sculpture, we walk along Quai Saint Pierre, past cafes and restaurants and a few palm trees, admiring the splendid moored yachts, until we arrive at Place Bernard Cornut Gentille. From here, in the traffic-free city center, we head down Rue de Meynadier, the shopping street, which we follow all the way to arrive in Rue Jean de Riouffe and Rue d’Antibes, the street of jewelers and big fashion brands from all over the world.
