Today I'm reacting to David Cassidy performing “How Can I Be Sure”, and I think I'm beginning to understand exactly what made this man such a huge star. Of course, David Cassidy had the looks and the teen-idol image, but listening to him here reminded me that there was much more behind the phenomenon. There was something about his voice, his presence and that effortless Cassidy charm that made it very easy to understand why so many fans absolutely adored him. “How Can I Be Sure” is a beautiful song, and David brings his own personality and emotion to it. Sometimes when you look back at the hysteria surrounding the great teen idols of the past, it's easy to concentrate on the screaming fans and forget about the talent that created the connection in the first place.
