Crossing Into the Masai Mara Safari 🇰🇪✨

Days 6 and 7 of our East Africa family safari take us from Tanzania’s northern Serengeti into Kenya’s legendary Masai Mara. We say goodbye to Ubuntu Migration Camp after a memorable bush breakfast in the wild, then enjoy one final safari drive through the northern Serengeti on the way to Lamai Airstrip. From there, the journey becomes an adventure of its own: a light-aircraft flight toward Tarime, an overland transfer through the Tanzania–Kenya border checkpoints near Migori, and a second bush flight to Ol Kiombo Airstrip. Landing in the Masai Mara feels like the start of a whole new chapter. Our transfer to Rekero Camp doubles as our first game drive through the reserve before we settle into our family tent beside the Talek River. The following morning, we head out at sunrise with Rekero’s guides, searching the golden plains for the Mara’s wildlife—from lions, cheetahs and leopards to elephants, hyenas and giraffes. After lunch back at camp, we venture deeper into the reserve on an afternoon game drive, ending the day with a peaceful riverbank sundowner as the last light fades over the savannah. It is a beautiful mix of family time, scenic travel, thoughtful guiding and classic safari moments across two remarkable countries.
