Most leg lock entries make you work progressively underneath your opponent's hips. The false reap is the shortcut and the real reason it works is how it connects to K guard.
In this breakdown I define the false reap, give you the four checkpoints that make it hold up against good grapplers, and explain why K guard and the false reap aren't two techniques but one leg lock system. When your opponent denies one entry, they open the other. If they pull the far hip away, the middle opens for the threading leg. If they crowd you to shut down the false reap, the K guard connection is back on the table.
That dilemma is exactly how Pawel Jaworski plays it at the highest level of no gi jiu jitsu and submission grappling using the opponent's reaction to decide which side of the system he enters.
