In an age before memory, the water god Gonggong and the fire god Zhurong waged war across the heavens. Defeated and enraged, Gonggong struck Mount Buzhou — the great pillar that held up the sky — and the heavens split open. Fire rained from the rift, floods swallowed the land, and the world began to fall. Nuwa, the serpent-tailed mother goddess, would not let her people perish. She gathered five-colored stones from the five corners of the world, forged them in sacred fire, and mended the shattered sky with threads of light. The great sea turtle Ao gave its legs to become four new pillars of heaven. She turned the Black Dragon of the flood to stone and held back the waters with dykes of golden reed ash. Then she rode her thunder chariot home to the clouds — never once asking for praise. Based on the classical text Huainanzi (淮南子). Original music and AI visuals by Myth Strings 神弦. Chapters 0:00 I.
