Fear God and keep his commandments, for this is the whole duty of man.” The Book of Ecclesiastes was recorded by King Solomon, the wisest man in Israel’s history, as he looked back on his life in his old age around 970-930 B.C. It tells us that all efforts to be happy apart from God are futile, and that only fearing God and keeping His commandments is the only way to achieve the purpose of life. It also implies that the answer to all futility is Jesus Christ. As you read through the Book of Ecclesiastes, which takes 35 minutes, may it be a time to look back and examine your life.
