A nice hypnotic rag from Ed C. Mahony (Mahoney) (1881-1951), one of two he is known for. The other is "Comet Rag" from 1910, both published by Joseph M. Daly in Boston. He wrote various other pieces as well, including a couple march two-steps. Online info regarding Mahoney is lacking, so I asked researcher Erlingi if he could find any. Here is a summary of what he found: Edward Clifford Mahoney was born in Boston in 1881 to parents from Massachusetts. His grandparents were from Ireland. He appears to have been a career pianist, with many mentions of appearances starting in 1902. First published composition may have been "The Hippodrome March" in 1905. There were at least nine other copyrights of songs and instrumentals by 1912. From 1912 he is also mentioned as organist for the Boston Lodge of Elks. In the early 1920s he copyrighted a couple of songs under the pseudonym Eddy la Don and was also performing under that name. In the 1930s and 40s he is listed as a musician from Los Angeles. He died in Long Beach CA in 1951, age 70. Original score link available soon. This is a reproduction of the original score. Thanks to JohnJ1995 for the hypnotic suggestion (that's actually a pun).
