On the 15th of August 2026, London bus route 378 will be changed. New stops will be added to the route. With a new operator also taking over. The route uses 10.2m ADL Enviro200 MMCs from 2019. 10.8m Enviro200s from 2015 allocated to the 170 are also used occasionally. Transport UK will begin running the 378 on the 15th of August. TUK will be the third operator of this route, after Metroline and Go-Ahead. The 378 will also be rerouted, replacing part of the 485. The first and last bus stop in Putney will also be changed. During certain times, the 378 will begin serving the Wetlands Centre. From 0940 until 1715, two stops in Barnes will be served. These are "Queen Elizabeth Walk" and "The Wetlands Centre". The 378 will replace the 485, which is being rerouted to Mortlake. New GB Kite Electroliners have been ordered for the 378. However, due to delays, diesel buses will be used temporarily. The 378 will use Enviro200s from 2010-2011, transferred from various garages. The 378 will operate from TUK's Battersea (QB) garage. When the 378 passes to TUK, one new stop will be added to the route. Buses will now start and end journeys at Putney Bridge Station. The 378 is currently allocated 5 YW19 plate Enviro200 MMCs. With Enviro200s from 2015 being allocated to route 170. These buses are Go-Ahead's second youngest diesel buses. These buses are expected to transfer to Morden Wharf garage for route 386. The 378 started running in early August 2019. The route was initially operated by Metroline. This was due to the route being a renumbering the 209. Enviro200s from 2009 were used on the 378. These ran from Brentford (AH) garage. Metroline ran the 378 for just 2 weeks. With Go-Ahead taking over the route in late August 2019. The 378 started running from Putney (AF) garage with MMCs. At the same time, its peak vehicle requirement was increased to 10. In July 2021, the 378 was cut between Mortlake and Barnes. This was due to safety concerns. The route returned to Mortlake in late August 2021. In July 2022, the 378 was rerouted. The route started serving stops from Barnes Pond to Ranelagh Avenue. The route no longer ran via Mill Hill Avenue. At the same time, the 378's PVR was cut to 5 from 10. This was in line with a frequency cut to route 209. In June 2025, the 378 was transferred to Stockwell (SW) garage. This left no diesel single deckers at Putney (AF). And allowed for Enviro200s to return to the 378. The 378 connects to two rail lines.
