Find peace before sleep with this Psalm 91 inspired Latin chant. Bring your fears and worries to God in a gentle night prayer for trust, comfort and protection. This original prayer begins with words from Psalm 91 (Psalm 90 in traditional Latin numbering). The remaining Latin verses are newly written around its themes of refuge, God’s presence through the night and the care of His angels. Sung in a slow, Gregorian-inspired style, this chant is for evening prayer, quiet reflection and rest. 🕯️ LATIN LYRICS Qui habitat in protectione Altissimi, sub umbra Omnipotentis commorabitur. Domine, tu es refugium cordis mei. Cum nox descendit, ad te venio. In silentio vocem meam audi; sub alis tuis da mihi requiem. Non timebo in nocte, quia tu prope es, Domine. Custodi domum nostram; dona cordibus pacem. Cum timor surgit in corde meo, spem tuam mihi redde. Per tenebras viam ostende et gressus meos dirige. Non timebo in nocte, quia tu prope es, Domine. Custodi domum nostram; dona cordibus pacem. Angeli tui iuxta nos vigilent, dum in pace quiescimus. In manibus tuis pono curas meas; in misericordia tua confido. Non timebo in nocte, quia tu prope es, Domine. Custodi domum nostram; dona cordibus pacem. Sub umbra tua quiescam, Domine. Usque ad lucem mane nobiscum. Amen. 🤍 ENGLISH TRANSLATION Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High will remain under the shadow of the Almighty. Lord, You are the refuge of my heart. When night descends, I come to You. Hear my voice in the silence; give me rest beneath Your wings. I will not fear in the night, for You are near, O Lord. Watch over our home; give peace to our hearts. When fear rises in my heart, restore my hope. Show me the way through the darkness and guide my steps. I will not fear in the night, for You are near, O Lord. Watch over our home; give peace to our hearts. May Your angels keep watch beside us as we rest in peace. I place my worries in Your hands; I trust in Your mercy. I will not fear in the night, for You are near, O Lord. Watch over our home; give peace to our hearts. I will rest beneath Your shadow, O Lord. Stay with us until dawn.
