In the winter of 1980, Ace Frehley secretly recorded an album in his Connecticut home studio, one he believed could save KISS. While the band chased disco hits with Dynasty and Unmasked, Space Ace was building a raw, heavy rock record. Then he played it for the band, and the decision they made changed the fate of KISS forever.
This documentary-style story follows Ace Frehley from the Bronx to the golden years of KISS: the smoking Les Paul, the 1978 solo album and New York Groove, the infamous Tom Snyder interview, the arrival of Eric Carr, Music from The Elder, Creatures of the Night, and his departure in 1982. It also traces the legend of the lost “Comeback” tapes, which rock insiders have whispered about for over forty years.
If you grew up with KISS Alive!, Love Gun, and the four solo albums of 1978, this story is for you. Share your memories of Ace and KISS in the comments.
This video combines documented history with dramatized elements and long-circulating rumors for storytelling purposes.
