Every Mexican house had one: the little blue jar. Mamá, my throat hurts — VapoRú. Mamá, my knee hurts — VapoRú. Mamá, I have a test tomorrow and I'm nervous — ponte VapoRú. The whole internet laughs about it now, and so do I. But here is what the jokes never say: my mother was not confused. She had about TEN specific uses she learned from her mother, and most of them had nothing to do with a cold and nothing to do with your body at all. It was a tool in that house. Today I give you all ten honestly, including which ones work for a reason that isn't the reason people think, and the two everybody repeats that I want you to STOP. ⚠️ Read first: I'm not a doctor and nothing here treats an illness. This is the outside of the body and the inside of the house. Never swallow it. Never inside the nostrils. Never on broken skin. Never on a baby, and not on the skin of children under two. If someone is truly sick, go to the doctor — my mother did too. In this video: • Mosquitoes on the patio — the eucalyptus/camphor oils are the same family used in real repellents • A saucer of it by the door — the same principle as chile for mice and clove for flies • Smelly shoes (in the shoe, not on the foot) · musty drawers, closets, and coolers • Keeping the cat off the sofa corner (test the fabric first) • Headache & tight shoulders — why it works as a counterirritant, NOT a repair, and why the pharmacy sells the same thing for 3x • The chest and the feet at bedtime — the honest truth about both, including what the studies actually say • Cracked winter heels — it works for the boring reason (petroleum jelly seals moisture) • Squeaky hinges and sticky drawers — it's grease, mija, it was always grease • Scuffs on wood and leather • 🛑 The TWO to stop: up the nostrils, and the toenail-fungus trend (especially if you're diabetic — that's the doctor, not the jar) • Who profits: muscle rub, foot cream, repellent wipes, pet spray — one jar from your grandmother's shelf, split into ten labels and sold back to you She didn't reach for it for everything because she was confused. She had ONE tool, she knew exactly what it could and couldn't do, and she couldn't afford ten. That's not a joke — that's a woman running a house on what she has. Tell me in the comments the thing YOUR mother put VapoRú on that had nothing to do with being sick. I already know some of your answers are going to make me laugh out loud. And tell me your county — I read every one.
