Standing Above Norway’s 275m Waterfall | Vettisfossen

Deep in Utladalen valley in Jotunheimen National Park lies one of Norway’s most spectacular waterfalls — Vettisfossen. With a free fall of 275 meters, it is one of the highest waterfalls in Northern Europe and an unforgettable sight when you finally reach the viewpoint above the falls. The journey itself is a big part of the experience. The hike starts near Øvre Årdal and follows the beautiful Utladalen valley, surrounded by steep mountains, rivers and several impressive waterfalls along the way. From Vetti farm, the trail becomes steeper and more challenging before reaching the viewpoint overlooking the enormous drop. Unlike some of Norway’s most famous natural attractions, Vettisfossen still feels like a hidden gem. The hike requires some effort, and depending on when you visit, you may find yourself almost alone with this incredible piece of nature. The Norwegian word “foss” means waterfall, and Vettisfossen gets its name from the nearby Vetti farm that you pass on the way to the viewpoint. Filmed in Jotunheimen National Park, Norway.
