AT&T 5840 Early 5.8GHz Cordless Phone Set - Unboxing

Unboxing and taking a brief first look at an AT&T 5.8GHz digital spread spectrum cordless phone system, model 5840. This set has 4 handsets including an apparently highly rare green-backlit version! This was manufactured by VTech, basically as AT&T's equivalent to VTech's 5881 and 5831, along with the rarer AT&T 5870 (which has an early form of talking Caller ID). As of September 2026, I am now trying to increase my channel's annual watch-hours to the point I can become monetized, in hopes of covering most of the costs of the things I show on here. I'm focusing on this now because starting next February, YouTube will double the amount of annual watch-hours required to be a monetized channel, going from 4,000 to 8,000, which I think is a particularly greedy move.
