This financial update highlights the worsening cost-of-living crisis in Myanmar, where trade blockades and severe inflation have caused everyday household items to experience tenfold price increases. In response to regional supply shortages, the Arakan People's Authority (APRG) and Arakan Army (AA) have finalized a trade MOU with the Mizoram Transport Association to transport 13 essential commodities—including food staples and fuel—from southern Mizoram into southern Chin State and Rakhine State via the Kaladan river corridor. Financially, the Myanmar Kyat has plummeted to an all-time low of 4,840 MMK per US dollar, pushing pure gold prices above 10,000,000 MMK per tical. Additionally, global financial watchdog FATF continues to blacklist Myanmar due to illicit financial activities and cyber scam hubs, restricting international US dollar transactions for local businesses and banks. Overseas, 78% of American voters cite high inflation and gas prices as their primary concern during the midterm elections.
