Is Fushimi Inari really like the reels? Real Fushimi Inari Kyoto vlog: crowd truth, 10,000-step hike to Mount Inari, free entry, best time (6 AM) and how to reach from Kyoto Station. In this video, I visit Fushimi Inari Shrine in Kyoto and show what it is really like, away from the Instagram reels. You will see the actual crowd on the torii gate path, the full hike up to Mount Inari (233 metres), the story of why thousands of torii gates are installed here, and how visitors write their wishes on them. I also show how I exchanged money in Kyoto and how to reach the shrine by train. Quick travel tips: Entry to Fushimi Inari Shrine is free. The shrine is a short walk (about 5 minutes) from the station. The train ride from Kyoto Station is short, and it is included in the JR Pass. Without a JR Pass, the fare is small, and a bus also works. The full hike to the top is about 10,000 steps and a 233 metre climb. From the crowded section, it takes around 25 more minutes to reach Mount Inari. Reach before 6 AM if you want fewer people and better photos. At normal hours, the main path is very crowded. You can walk along the side to avoid the crowd. The torii gates are made of wood. As I learned there, they are installed by businessmen and others whose wishes came true, and people write messages on them. At the top, you can light a candle and make a wish. Money exchange: I used a currency exchange machine, and 100 USD gave me about 14,560 yen (rate around 145.6). Exchange stalls open after 11 AM and usually give reasonable rates. Rates change daily, so please check before you go. Prices and timings may change, so please check the official websites before you go.
