Part 1 of my visit to the Caledonian Railway on Sunday 9th July 2017.
On my way to stay with some relatives for a couple of days, I stopped off at the Caledonian Railway at Brechin. Motive power of the day was in the form of a 1926-built Andrew Barclay Sons & Co. 0-4-0ST No. 1863 painted in BR Black with the initials of the Caledonian Railway on her side tanks.
Having brought in her coaches, No. 1863 (nicknamed the "Wee Barclay" by the railway society), moved towards to the end of the platform to take on water, via a hose from a water tanker, and then, coal from a trolley full of coal buckets as her coal bunkers are in the corners of the cab.
Then, after running around, the "Wee Barclay" took me and other passengers aboard two ex-BR Mk 1 coaches to Bridge Of Dun.
