Jóhann Jóhannsson - Ruslpóstur (from "Dís") Reworked / @coversart

Jóhann Jóhannsson - Ruslpóstur (from "Dís") [reworked] “Ruslpóstur” is a piece from the original soundtrack of Dís, composed by Jóhann Jóhannsson (1969 - 2018), the visionary Icelandic composer celebrated for blending classical orchestration with electronic and experimental textures. Written for the film directed by Silja Hauksdóttir, the Dís score moves away from traditional orchestral writing, instead embracing studio-crafted sounds and an intimate, atmospheric palette. This project marked an early chapter in Jóhannsson’s film career - years before his internationally acclaimed scores for The Theory of Everything, Sicario, and Arrival. My interpretation remains faithful to the original structure of the piece while introducing subtle ambient noise textures and additional string lines - offering a personal perspective on its quiet intensity and fragile beauty. *Silja Hauksdóttir (born 12 January 1976) is an Icelandic writer and film director. After studying philosophy at the University of Iceland, she pursued screenwriting, directing, and cinematography at FAMU in Prague and Binger Filmlab in Amsterdam. She co-wrote the novel Dís with Birna Anna Björnsdóttir and Oddný Sturludóttir and later directed the 2004 feature film Dís, which was nominated for the Nordic Council Film Prize.
