Itanagar, October 25: Arunachal Indigenous Tribal Forum (AITF) held a meeting with Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu to discuss the Siang Upper Multipurpose Project (SUMP) and the recent protests in Siang.
During the meeting, the AITF reportedly stated that while people have the right to protest, demonstrations must be conducted within the framework of the law, including obtaining the necessary permissions from the authorities.
The discussion also addressed the reported vandalism of an MLAโs residence and office amid the protests. However, according to the forum, no permanent solution was reached during the meeting.
The government reportedly described SUMP as a project of national interest, while concerns over the project and the ongoing developments in Siang continue to remain a key issue of discussion.
