A Historic European City Worth Visiting

I decided to travel through Slovakia to visit Trenčín, one of the most historic cities in the country. On the way there, however, I stopped in the village of Beckov to visit the ruins of Beckov Castle, which stand on a rock about 60 meters high. After paying the entrance fee, I took a quick tour around Beckov Castle and its grounds, which also offered great views of the surrounding Slovak countryside. The €8 entrance fee was definitely worth it, and Beckov Castle is well worth a stop if you are traveling through this part of Slovakia. From there, I continued to my main destination, the historic city of Trenčín, home to probably the most famous landmark in the region – Trenčín Castle. But before heading to the castle, I tried to find a bakery or somewhere to get some food to take with me. I found one bakery, but most of the food was already sold out, so I went to a local grocery store, where the selection of baked goods was also limited. In the end, I decided to grab a pizza instead. Trenčín Castle is really huge, but it is currently undergoing renovation, so several areas were closed during my visit. The entrance fee was €10. The way up to the main tower leads through a narrow staircase, with access to different rooms displaying historical artifacts such as swords, clothing, and furniture. From the top of the tower, you can see a large part of the Trenčín region in every direction. After visiting Trenčín Castle, I returned to the main square to explore some of the city's historic buildings and landmarks, including the statue of Ľudovít Štúr, the Trenčín Synagogue, and the ancient Roman inscription carved into the rock. After that, I headed back to my car. I spent about four hours exploring Trenčín, and from what I saw, the city is definitely worth visiting, especially for its beautiful and nicely renovated historic main square.
