We leave our free camp at 41 Mile Bore to head down the Stuart Highway, with our first stop being Tennant Creek. It was interesting to see this place first hand after mixed reviews. We fill up with diesel at the petrol station and use our 'key to Australia' to top up on water, then stop at the free weigh bridge to check out weights again. Next stop is the Devil's Marbles Conservation Reserve - Karlu Karlu. This was a great place to stop over for the night while driving through the region! We enjoyed learning about the impressive geology of the area (the granite boulders began forming 1640 million years ago, eroding over time), bushwalking around 3km of walking tracks and the beautiful sunset from the lookout. We also enjoyed meeting some other lovely travelling families at this spot, who kindly gave us some great tips for spots to come! Our recommendation is if you are only going to pick one walk, the lookout was the best! A fun walk for the kids, only around 300m and it gives a great view of the area! Next we head to Gem Tree, with a lunch stop at the Mt Stuart Memorial. This is where panic starts to kick in... watch to learn from our BIG MISTAKE!
