Fly fishing the grayling season opening weekend in Belgium on the Lomme near Éprave (CRAPLL)

Grayling is one of the most protected species in Belgium (always catch and release only), and targeting grayling on the "white waters" (basically non-navigable small streams) can only be done between the 1st Saturday on June and the end of September, so I choose the opening weekend to revisit the Lomme in Éprave. I don't have a yearly licence here, so I took a day ticket for Sunday (7th of June, 2026). It was a very nice day, and while I met quite some other fisherman, as soon as I walked a bit further from the parking, I had the river for myself. My five weight dry fly rod was definitely an overkill for here, but this year I have not fished this rod much yet, so I really wanted to use it... I caught the first graylings of the year, including a rather nice one, and caught also a few nicer brown trout too.
