RIDE TO WARN THE SEVENTH

Welcome to the channel The Old West Theatre. Dakota Territory, June 1876. Captain Phillip Donlin returns early from patrol to Fort Abraham Lincoln and overhears what no soldier should ever hear — his wife Celie and Lieutenant John Haywood, one of his own officers, confessing their love for each other. Heartbroken and silent, Donlin rides out again the next morning, this time with orders that matter more than any marriage: warn General Custer that the Sioux and Cheyenne are massing in overwhelming numbers along a Montana river, far more than his few hundred troopers can face. When Haywood's unit catches up with the patrol carrying orders to turn back, Donlin learns that Custer has already marched — and makes the choice of a lifetime. He disregards his orders, absorbs Haywood into his command, and pushes his small, ragged band of cavalrymen two hundred and fifty miles through hostile country in a desperate race against the calendar. Every mile costs them. Ambushes, ridgeline arrows, and sniper fire whittle the column down one man at a time, while the silent war between the captain and the lieutenant festers in every order given and every glance exchanged across the campfire. Grief, jealousy, duty, and courage ride side by side toward the valley where history is about to be written in blood — and these few men are the only ones who might change how it ends. 🎞️ Chapters / Timecodes: 00:00 – A Secret Overheard at the Fort 14:30 – Orders to Warn the General 28:30 – Disobeying Command 43:00 – Arrows From the Ridgelines 57:30 – Captain and Lieutenant 1:12:00 – Racing Toward the Trap ⚙️ Technical Information: The film has been digitally restored using modern tools to enhance image quality, color, and sound.
