Are the 49ers Playing the Long Game With Nick Bosa? — David Lombardi

The 49ers are 3-0 and banged up, with a hot Sunday against Denver coming in Santa Clara. SF Standard's David Lombardi joins Willard and Dibs on 95.7 The Game to break down who plays, who sits, and what it all means for the rest of the season David has some surprising reads. Mike Evans and Trent Williams were in the locker room in their jerseys playing cards, and David says that's a good sign, not a bad one. He also explains why the 49ers might ease Evans in this week with a Seattle game looming, and how that could mean carrying six receivers. From there the conversation moves to Nick Bosa, who is coming off his third ACL tear. David argues the 49ers have to play the long game, and that stacking wins now buys them time to get him right for a deep playoff run. They also get into the defense. David thinks it could be a top-five unit with Bosa, and that the 49ers lead the league in preventing explosive plays. Topics discussed include: Will Mike Evans and Trent Williams play, and why the locker room card game matters Brandin Cooks' promotion and the six-receiver possibility The Kader Hodge injury settlement and the 49ers' IR logjam Michael Williams and Christian Kirk's return timelines Why the 49ers are managing Nick Bosa with the playoffs in mind Whether the 49ers can make a trade before the deadline Will Dre Greenlaw and Keion White play against Denver?
