Brookies & Lightning

Another rainy trip? Yes, this will be the fourth trip of my last five that I'm getting rained on. Oh well! I don't get to choose what the weather will do when I have my opportunities to get out, so all I can do is deal. This was a fun trip, though. The fishing was steady enough to keep me content and the storms were actually pretty exciting! Due to extremely close lightning, I had to get off the water three different times and wait out storm cells that were throwing a lot of lightning. I even had a bolt of lightning strike a tree I was looking at earlier in the day, thinking about how it looked charred and burned (it was dead). The highlight of the day was when I finally got a good sized male brookie with tall sides and great colors. After seeing this fish I was looking at all day, I was happy to trick at least one of the better ones into biting, albeit on the smaller end of what I was witnessing. It was a great day on the water, despite the extreme weather. Thank you for watching!
