Planning for Avon’s Future: Company 1 Fire Station Improvements

Company 1 has served the Avon community for more than 50 years and remains a critical response facility for the Avon Volunteer Fire Department. As the fire service has evolved, however, the station has become increasingly difficult to adapt to modern operational, health and safety needs. In this video, members of the project design team explain the proposed approach for Company 1: renovation and expansion rather than complete replacement. The proposed improvements focus investment where it can have the greatest operational impact, including better separation between clean and contaminated environments, improved firefighter health and safety, additional support space, better organization, response readiness, training capability and the day-to-day experience of Avon’s volunteer firefighters. Under the proposed facilities plan, administrative functions would move to Company 3, allowing Company 1 to continue serving as an important response facility with targeted improvements designed to support the community for decades to come.
