Planning for Avon's Future: Company 4 Fire Station

Company 4 plays an important role in maintaining response coverage across Avon. While portions of the station have been improved over time, several core challenges remain — including limited separation between operational and support spaces, competing demands for available space, accessibility limitations, and building systems operating beyond their intended service life. In this video, the project design team explains why they recommended targeted renovation and modest expansion for Company 4 rather than complete replacement. The proposed improvements focus investment where it can provide the greatest operational value: improved support spaces, enhanced health and safety separation, better apparatus functionality, updated living and response environments, and infrastructure designed to better support Avon’s volunteer firefighters. We evaluated every square foot against operational priorities and long-term value. The goal is not to make Company 4 something entirely different, but to preserve what works while strategically improving what doesn’t — preparing the station to continue serving Avon for decades to come.
