🌸 Come wander through my July cottage garden and experience one of the most abundant moments of the growing season. Welcome to another episode of Kelly’s Garden Journal! In this July garden tour, I’m inviting you to walk with me through my Zone 4 hybrid cottage garden — a garden that blends overflowing seasonal containers, raised beds, perennial flowers, annual cut flowers, and fragrant herbs into one evolving and creative space. July is when the garden truly comes alive. Throughout this garden walk, you’ll see beautiful blooms including Café au Lait dahlias, Otto’s Thrill dahlias, echinacea, bee balm, rudbeckia, phlox, anise hyssop, along with mint, oregano, and many other flowers and herbs bringing color, fragrance, texture, and pollinators into the garden. I’ll also share some of my favorite summer container combinations, what’s blooming in the raised beds, how different plants are growing together, and some of the changes and surprises happening throughout the garden in midsummer. My garden has gradually evolved into what I call a hybrid cottage garden — a blend of the relaxed abundance of a traditional cottage garden with seasonal containers, raised beds, perennial flowers, annual cut flowers, and herbs. It’s always changing, always teaching me something, and every month brings something new to discover.
