A record king tide and days of powerful northeast winds tore into Florida's Treasure Coast and Palm Beach County coast in late October 2026. The NOAA tide gauge at Lake Worth Pier hit about 2.7 feet above normal high tide on October 27, beating the record set during Hurricane Nicole in 2022 — with no hurricane anywhere nearby.
In this video we travel the coast town by town, north to south:
• Stuart, Sewall's Point, Palm City and Hutchinson Island (Bathtub Reef Beach) flooding and erosion
• Jupiter Island & Hobe Sound — the shoreline the state calls critically eroded
• Jupiter — the nearly 100-year-old Civic Center at Carlin Park loses its staircase, closed through Thanksgiving
• Juno Beach Pier closed indefinitely mid $1.3M rebuild
• Singer Island, Palm Beach Midtown Beach (groins exposed), Manalapan, Lantana (~3 ft), Boynton Inlet, Briny Breezes (~2 ft), Delray and Boca Raton
• Why staircases and piers fail, how beaches lose sand, who pays for renourishment
• Why the Gulf Stream makes Palm Beach County so exposed, what a gale warning means
• Halloween weekend outlook and the next king tides in November
Information as of October 30, 2026. Always follow your local officials and the National Weather Service.
