پِیالے بَدَلتے رہے · Piyaale Badalte Rahe Poetry by Faisal Shah (فَیصلؔ) --- *مَیں نے، ہَر، پِیالے میں — وُہی، اِک، زَہر، پِیا* In every cup, I drank that same one poison — *پِیالے، بَدَلتے، رہے — زَہر، وُہی، رَہا* the cups kept changing; the poison stayed the same. --- *آنکھ نے، اِسے — زِیارت، سَمَجھ کے، پِیا* The eye drank it, mistaking it for a holy beholding — *پھر، ہر، منظرِ حُسن — خُمار، بَن گیا* then every scene of beauty became an intoxication it couldn't shake. --- *دِل نے، اِسے — اُلفَت، سَمَجھ کے، پِیا* The heart drank it, mistaking it for love — *پھر، ہر، آرزو — دل کا، آزار، بَن گیا* then every longing became the heart's own torment. --- *ذِہن نے، اِسے — بَصِیرت، سَمَجھ کے، پِیا* The mind drank it, mistaking it for insight — *پھر، جِتنا، جانا — اُتنا، اِنْتِشار، بَن گیا* then the more it came to know, the more it became chaos. --- *رُوح نے، اِسے — عِبادت، سَمَجھ کے، پِیا* The soul drank it, mistaking it for worship — *پھر، یہ، تِشنَگی — اُس کا، دِیدار، بَن گیا* then this very thirst became the vision of Him. --- *تَب، یہ، کُھلا — کہ، زَہر، اور، دَوا — ایک تھے* Then it dawned — that the poison and the cure were one and the same; *فَیْصَلؔ — جِسے، زَہر، سَمَجھا — وہ، آبِ حَیات، نِکلا* Faisal — what I had taken for poison turned out to be the water of life. --- *پِیالے، بَدَلتے، رہے — زَہر، وُہی، رَہا* The cups kept changing… the poison stayed the same.
