What's Up - UM6P Monthly Digest: May 2026

On What’s Up this month, seven notable news stories emerged. The University Mohammed VI Polytechnic (UM6P) hosted or supported several prominent events during the spring of 2026. In Rabat, on 20–21 May, the 16th edition of the “Tables Rondes de l’Arbois et de la Méditerranée” celebrated “Moroccan Women Scientists of Exception,” featuring speakers such as Ilham Kadri, Najat Mokhtar, and Hasnaa Chennaoui Aoudjehane, who discussed their expertise and scientific pursuits. Additionally, on 12 May in Benguerir, UM6P organized the 3rd Smart Green City Forum—coordinated with Rehamna Province and SADV—under the theme “Universities as Catalysts of Frugal, Sovereign, Social AI,” attracting diplomats and technology leaders from a dozen countries. Moreover, UM6P spin-off SensThings introduced the T3 Shield, a portable Edge-AI device designed for exam security; it detects illicit transmissions via four scanning modes, operates for six hours on a single battery charge, and will be implemented across 2,007 examination venues starting in June. UM6P also received a diplomatic delegation comprising 20 ambassadors and orchestrated the 4th edition of the Research and Development 20 (RD20) Summer School, an event that brought together international research institutions to examine decarbonization strategies and sustainable industrial transformation. Meanwhile, the student community of UM6P commemorated cultural diversity during a May roadshow of Cultural Days, which featured flag parades, international performances, and culinary exhibits representing numerous nationalities.
